My husband doesn't like almonds, so I made one for him without.
I knew that I wanted to do something for Chocolate Milkshake Day because milkshakes are delicious and I was excited to have an excuse to make one, not that I need an excuse. I give my give my baby girl lots of calories 4-6 times a day, I went to Zumba, and I also walked to the grocery store to buy the icecream to make my milkshake. We do live next door to the store, but it is uphill both ways.
I really do have to go up a hill both ways, but I also get to go down the hill...
Anyways, this milkshake is more than worth my trip to the store. Super chocolatey, with chocolate chips and extra chocolateyness from the added chocolate syrup. The toasted marshmallows and almonds add texture and toasty flavor. Needless to say, I was very pleased with my milkshake.
So, Happy National Chocolate Milkshake Day! Enjoy your milkshakes!
Chocolate Milkshake with Toasted Marshmallows and Almonds
Ingredients (1 Milkshake)
- 2 Tbs. sliced almonds
- 1/4 c. marshmallows
- 2 scoops chocolate icecream
- 1/4 c. milk
- 2 Tbs. chocolate chips
- 2 Tbs. chocolate syrup
First, toast the almonds in a heavy-bottomed skillet until they start to smell slightly nutty and are slightly browned. Be careful to not burn them.
Toast you marshmallows on a pan under the broiler, or if you have a kitchen torch this is your excuse to use it. I love my torch!
Scoop your icecream into the blender. Add the milk, chocolate chips, and chocolate syrup, and blend.
Add about half of your toasted almonds and half of your toasted marshmallows and mix in by hand.
Pour your milkshake into your desired drinking vessel, and top with the remaining toasted almonds and marshmallows.
Enjoy immediately or all of your chocolate chip chunks will sink to the bottom.
